Welcome to the Department of Cellular Physiology

Research in our division covers three main areas:

  • the molecular biophysics of cellular motility
  • mechanisms of cellular osmoregulation
  • calcium-dependent cellular communication and signal transduction

We develop and apply a broad range of high-resolution biophysical methods, including  optical tweezers, single fluorescence and atomic force microscopy for single molecule studies in vitro and in cells. For cellular studies we also apply confocal and two-photon fluorescence microscopy, electron-microscopical techniques and electron-microprobe analysis
