Welcome to the Department of Cellular Physiology
Research in our division covers three main areas:
- the molecular biophysics of cellular motility
 - mechanisms of cellular osmoregulation
 - calcium-dependent cellular communication and signal transduction

We develop and apply a broad range of high-resolution biophysical methods, including optical tweezers, single fluorescence and atomic force microscopy for single molecule studies in vitro and in cells. For cellular studies we also apply confocal and two-photon fluorescence microscopy, electron-microscopical techniques and electron-microprobe analysis
